How Government In-Hand Salary is Calculated (7th CPC)
Monthly take-home salary is computed based on Basic Pay, central allowances, and statutory deductions:
Gross Salary Additions
- Basic Pay: Entry pay determined by Pay Level (Level 1 to 14).
- Dearness Allowance (DA): 50% of Basic Pay (applicable from 2024–2026).
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): Class X Cities (30%), Class Y (20%), Class Z (10%).
- Transport Allowance (TA): ₹1,350 to ₹7,200 + DA thereon depending on pay level and city tier.
Statutory Deductions
- NPS / Pension Contribution: 10% of (Basic Pay + DA).
- CGHS / Health Scheme: ₹250 to ₹1,000/month depending on level.
- CGEGIS (Insurance): ₹30 to ₹120/month.
- Income Tax (TDS): Applicable as per chosen tax regime.
