Detailed Official Notification & Guidelines

UPSSSC PET 2026: WHAT'S NEW

The UP Subordinate Service Selection Commission has put the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 admit card online. The exam was first planned for 23, 24 and 25 October, but a notice dated 25 September moved it to 25 October, 30 October and 1 November 2026, and the change was made around the UP Legislative Council election schedule. The exam city slips came out on 12 October, and admit cards are being released in phases for each exam day (17, 23 and 25 October).

EXAM SCHEDULE

Each of the three days has two shifts: 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Your exact date, shift, reporting time and centre are on your admit card, so read it before you leave home.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE ADMIT CARD

  1. Open upsssc.gov.in and find the PET admit card link on the home page (or the Notice Board).
  2. Log in with the registration details and date of birth you used in your application.
  3. Check your name, photo, date, shift and centre, then download and print it on A4 paper.
  4. If anything is wrong, contact UPSSSC before exam day.

WHAT TO CARRY TO THE CENTRE

  • Your printed admit card
  • One original photo ID: Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, Passport or Driving Licence. Photocopies and phone scans are not accepted.
  • Two recent passport-size photographs, the same as in your application
  • Category or disability certificate, if it applies to you

No admit card or no valid ID means no entry.

EXAM PATTERN

100 objective questions, 100 marks, 2 hours, offline OMR sheet. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, and unanswered questions cost nothing. Indian History – 5 Indian National Movement – 5 Geography – 5 Indian Economy – 5 Indian Constitution and Public Administration – 5 General Science – 5 Elementary Arithmetic – 5 General Hindi – 5 General English – 5 Logic and Reasoning – 5 Current Affairs – 10 General Awareness – 10 Hindi Unseen Passage – 10 Graph Interpretation – 10 Table Interpretation and Analysis – 10 Look at the split: 30 marks come from passage, graph and table questions, which reward practice more than memory.

YOUR LAST WEEK

  • Spend the first few days on the 10-mark sections (current affairs, general awareness, passage, graph, table), because they give the most marks per hour.
  • Do at least two timed full papers on paper, since the real exam uses an OMR sheet and bubbling takes time.
  • With 0.25 negative marking, guess only after you can rule out at least two options.
  • Pack your bag the night before and check your centre's route.

WHAT PET IS FOR

PET is an eligibility test for UPSSSC Group C recruitments where it is required. The score is valid for 3 years from the result date. Each recruitment then has its own stages, and a good PET score alone is not a job offer.

APPLICATION DETAILS (FOR REFERENCE)

Applications ran from 3 August to 7 September 2026. The fee was ₹185 for General and OBC, ₹95 for SC/ST and ₹25 for PwD. Age limit: 18 to 40 as on 1 July 2026. Minimum qualification: Class 10.
