The deadline was moved from 15 October to 28 October 2026 for both the application and the fee, and the correction window now runs until 31 October. The written exam is on 3 and 4 December 2026.

TWO POSTS, ONE EXAM

  • Assistant Teacher, Primary (Urban): 11,508 posts in urban primary schools under the Basic Education Department, spread across 75 districts. Age 21 to 40.
  • Assistant Teacher, Sambaddh Primary: 897 posts in non-government aided schools under the Secondary Education Department (473 in boys' schools and 424 in girls' schools). Minimum age 21, and 62 is the superannuation age.

Both posts carry Level 6 pay (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400). You'll state your school-type preference while applying, and it can't be changed after the deadline, so decide before you start.

WHO CAN APPLY

You need a graduate degree, a recognised teaching qualification (BTC/D.El.Ed, Special BTC, B.El.Ed or an RCI-approved special education diploma) and a TET pass. Age is counted on 1 July 2026. For the Urban post, UP's SC, ST and OBC candidates get 5 years of relaxation, UP's PwBD candidates 15 years, and ex-servicemen 3 years plus their service; Shiksha Mitras can apply up to 60. If you qualify for more than one relaxation, only the most beneficial one is given.
