Detailed Official Notification & Guidelines

UP PGT RECRUITMENT 2026 AT A GLANCE

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, is hiring 2,607 PGT (Pravakta/Lecturer) teachers for aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh under Advertisement No. 06/2026. Application and fee payment close on 17 October 2026, and the correction window stays open until 21 October. The written test is on 15 and 16 December 2026.

HOW TO APPLY, STEP BY STEP

  1. Go to upessc.up.gov.in and complete One Time Registration (OTR). You can't open the application form without it.
  2. Fill the application in English. Choose your subject and whether you are applying for boys' or girls' schools. Check your category, sub-category, date of birth and gender twice, because none of these can be changed after final submission.
  3. Upload your photo (JPG/JPEG, 30–300 KB, 300–600 pixels) and signature on white paper (JPG/JPEG, 10–200 KB, 140 × 110 pixels).
  4. Upload your certificates as PDFs of 50–500 KB each.
  5. Pay online by credit card, debit card or net banking: ₹1,500 for General, OBC, EWS and others, ₹750 for SC/ST, ₹500 for PwD candidates. Keep the receipt, since payment counts only after the bank confirms it.
  6. Submit, then print at least three copies of your application. You will need two sets of documents at the interview.

THINGS THAT CATCH PEOPLE OUT

  • One application per subject and school type. If you apply twice for the same combination, only the last submission counts.
  • Women can apply to boys' or girls' schools, but pick only one per application. Men generally can't be appointed to girls' schools, except for Music.
  • Blind candidates are generally not eligible for teaching posts, except for Music.
  • Your age is checked only against your High School certificate.
  • Already employed? Bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the interview.
  • Candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh who claim a reserved category don't get reservation benefits and are treated as General.

WHO CAN APPLY

You must be an Indian citizen aged 21 to 62 on 1 July 2026. The 62 is the superannuation age for the post, not a typical age cap, so most applicants are well inside the limit. Age relaxation follows UP Government rules. For most subjects you need a postgraduate degree in that subject plus a B.Ed from an NCTE-recognised programme. Physical Education needs a graduate degree plus M.P.Ed, Painting Arts needs High School plus a Diploma in Fine Arts plus B.Ed, and Music accepts a postgraduate degree or a bachelor's with music specialisation, plus B.Ed.
